Mustache Maker

This is a little experiment I did with Face Detection in flash. Its certainly not perfect but its definitely an interesting experiment. Flash didn't seem ready to handle continuous face tracking at a decent framerate so I decided to try something that analyzed the image once and then generated graphics on top of it. The coolest thing about it at the moment is that it can create a mustache for every face it finds in the image. If your not getting video on the screen follow the instructions on the top half of the page. Have fun.

Character Designs

Character design has always been an interest of mine although not one I've taken terribly seriously. Periodically I'll take a stab at it for fun and have definitely gotten better the more I've tried. In this set I'm including many characters from a game I was working on and will continue to work on as time permits.

Comp Browser Prototype

This is a comp browsing flash application I designed while working at Cabedge. As far as I know they may still be using a version of this for presentations (they were at the time) but this is a prototype version of some additional commenting functionality I wanted to add. Because this project was focused on the presentation of the comp you won't see any UI elements when you first load the app. If you move your mouse to the left, bottom, and right areas of the screen you will see the UI elements.

History of Russcampbell.net

My portfolio site has changed names almost as often as it changed designs. I recently decided to take a browse through some old backups and was surprised how many I had done. Early on in my career it was more or less a place for me to experiment with UI design and exercise my latest discoveries as a designer and developer.

Click on one of the images below to view an old version of my portfolio. Many are working versions. Just click the Archive button at the top of the project.

Earliest Known Flash Experiment

After spending an hour digging through some old archives of my work I found this to be the earliest flash experiment I could find. You can see how from the beginning I was really focused on experimenting with user interfaces.
